Market gardeners 2018

Our 4th year already, and an even better year than 2017. We raised £231 for the Mayor’s Appeal from raffling the hampers and donations.

It did help that the weather was good and our stall was in a prime spot in Queen’s Road, but the credit for the success is due to the hard work of all the volunteers from the Nuneaton Allotment Associations and the generosity of the public.

New this year were enticements to come up to the stall, ie food! Several people had made goodies for the public to try for free and it certainly made it easy to encourage people to come to the stall and start a conversation about grow-your-own.

The Mayor, Councillor Christopher Watkins, and his wife Collette, judged the hampers for the competition.

Results of hamper competition:

First – Abbey

Second – Hill Top East

Third –

Fourth – Ryder’s Hill and Greenmoor
